Education and Cirruculum combine (Sep 2006)
The Education and Curriculum Committees are being combined. Martha Metropulos, who currently is successfully chairing the Curriculum Committee has agreed to chair this merged committee. Since titles like Education/Curriculum Committee are cumbersome, this new, merged committee, will just simply be called the Education Committee. Congratulations and a big 'thanks' to Martha for taking on this challenging task!
Nancy Maxwell (Sep 2006)
Nancy Maxwell, one of the Learning Center's key volunteers, has decided to step down as head of the Education Committee. In this position, Nancy has been a key contributor to the Council for many years.
In her letter of resignation, Nancy wrote: "Due to time and health issues, I will be resigning from the position of Education Coordinator as of today, September 5, 2006. I thank the volunteers and Council for the privilege of having served this organization. I would like to continue to instruct, as this is where my interests are. I love working with the students. I have enjoyed working with everyone on the council, but have not been able to do a good job due to my health problems and it is not fair with all the great people we have to not step down and give someone else a opportunity to serve."
As you can read in Nancy's letter, we will continue to have the privilege of seeing her frequently at the instructor rostrum! I'm sure all our students and volunteers alike will want to join the Council in saying a sincere Thank You, Nancy, for the service you have performed as head of Education for the past four years
